Thanks and Giving
Fall happenings
It's the time of year where we come together as a community to make a difference.
We believe that it is our responsibility to live Jewishly in ways that change the world for the better, and we know that there are as many ways to do so as there are people!
So, browse our mitzvah opportunities below to find what interests you, and be inspired to make tikkun olam part of your unique Jewish journey this season.
Thanksgiving Dinner for Those in Need
Sunday, Nov 24th 9:45a to 1:00pThis year, we're reimagining TI's Thanksgiving dinner! Instead of hosting our large in-person event at TI, we'll be hand-packing hundreds of boxed Thanksgiving meal kits, each filled with the non-perishable ingredients needed for a family of four to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast in the comfort of their own home.
Turkey Trot
Thursday, Nov 28th 7:00a to 9:30aThe Turkey Trot is a family-friendly 5k run/walk held on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28) and benefits the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry. Come for the race, the music, refreshments, T-shirt, or just to know you’ve made a difference for those in need.
Giving Tuesday
Tuesday, Dec 3rd (All day)Giving Tuesday is a day of radical generosity and an opportunity for people around the world to come together to thank, help, give, show kindness, and share what they have with those in need. You can give to Temple Israel, other organizations that touch your heart, and just reach out to those who may need a little extra love or support.
Holiday Gift Store for Monroe Elementary
Wednesday, Dec 11th 7:30a to 1:00pTo ensure that each child at our partner school has a holiday gift this season, we’re creating a Gift Store at Monroe so parents or caregivers can select an item and have it beautifully wrapped by volunteers. It’s a Hanukah mitzvah!
