REligious SCHOOL
Religious School
For students in Grades K-6th
The overall goal of our Religious School experience is to foster a love of being Jewish in each and every child who walks through our doors. We want our students to feel proud of their Judaism and to be knowledgeable and confident Jews. Our students learn about Jewish holidays, Jewish history, Israel, Torah, Mitzvot, Tzedakah and Hebrew, all while experiencing meaningful, hands-on lessons.
Religious School Schedule: Kindergarten through 6th grade will meet on Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:30 am.
HEBREW SCHOOL
Hebrew School
For students in grades 3rd-6th
Students in grades 3-6 at Temple Israel will join a small Hebrew learning group to read Hebrew, understand prayer meanings, and prepare for Bar or Bat Mitzvah. The Religious School program fosters Jewish self-esteem through familiarity with Hebrew and communal prayers, aiming to instill a passion for Judaism. Participation is required for those seeking B’nai Mitzvah. Weekly one-hour sessions will include hands-on activities tailored to students' Hebrew levels, with private tutoring available at an extra cost. Registration is encouraged for all community members.
Please Note:
Hebrew learning groups will consist of 12 or less students assigned to one teacher.
Hebrew learning groups will be at the tutor/director’s discretion, based on Hebrew assessment.
Siblings in different grades cannot share a Hebrew group, but we will try to schedule their sessions at similar times.
Friday night Shabbat service attendance and participation: Students nearing their B'nai Mitzvah in the Hebrew program can help lead Friday night services 1-2 times a year, preparing them for leadership on the bimah. This fosters comfort in leading and allows tutors to assess learning goals. All ages are encouraged to attend.
Assessments: Students in the Hebrew program will be assessed by their teacher and director three times a year to monitor progress and adjust learning goals for individual and group success.
Hebrew School Schedule:
Tuesday: 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm, or 5:00 pm (1 hour blocks)
Sundays: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm | pizza lunch provided followed by Hebrew School
We understand families have many commitments, so our program is designed to prioritize Hebrew learning without requiring students to give up other beloved after-school activities.
