Lag bomer hub
Lag B'omer — the 33rd day of the omer — is a holiday that falls during the seven weeks between Passover and Shavuot. Historically, Lag B'omer was a way of marking the transition from the barley to the wheat harvest, 49 days beginning on the second day of Passover, and ending on Shavuot. The days were counted as was directed in Leviticus: “And from the day on which you bring the offering…you shall count off seven weeks. They must be complete.” (23: 15-16). Many restraints were also required, including weddings, parties, and even haircuts!
Lag B'omer was the only exception to these restrictions during the seven weeks. On the 33rd day of the omer (Lag B'omer) celebrations were permitted, and many choose to get married on this day. Today, it is customary in Israel to celebrate with outdoor parties, picnics, and bonfires!
