Lilith Readers Book Club

with Rabbi Amy

Inspired by Lilith, one of the fiercest forgotten women of Jewish literature, we’ll read a book each month by a Jewish woman or about Jewish women throughout history. Each book takes place during a different time period, so we’ll learn a little history, enjoy some fantastic novels, and bring to light some forgotten figures of the Jewish past.

Thursday, February 15  |  7:00 pm – 8:00 pm  |  Temple Israel
Light refreshments provided. Feel free to BYO wine or other treats to share!

Our February Book is The Color of Love: A Story of a Mixed-Race Jewish Girl by Marra B. Gad. Marra came to realize that she was “a mixed-race, Jewish unicorn,” not “black enough” in black spaces, and in Jewish spaces, mistaken for the help, asked to leave, or worse. This heart-wrenching and heartwarming story is about what you inherit from your family — identity, disease, melanin, hate, and most powerful of all, love.
