7:00 PM - 9:00 PMCongregation Temple IsraelLilith Readers Book Club
with Rabbi Amy
This book club is inspired by Lilith, one of the fiercest forgotten women of Jewish literature. Prior to each meeting, we’ll read a book by or about Jewish women, each taking place during a different time period, so we’ll learn a little history, enjoy some fantastic novels, and bring to light some forgotten figures of the Jewish past over a nosh and some great discussions.
Next Book Club meeting:
Thursday, April 18 | 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm | Congregation Temple Israel
Light refreshments provided. Feel free to BYO wine or other treats to share!
Our April book is The Dressmaker of Prospect Heights by Kitty Zeldis. Moving from the bustling streets of early twentieth-century New York City to late nineteenth-century Russia and the lively quarters of New Orleans in the 1910s, The Dressmakers of Prospect Heights is a story of the families we are born into and the families we choose, and of the unbreakable bonds between women.
If you choose to purchase this book from local bookstore The Novel Neighbor, use the code DRESS and receive 20% off through April 2024.
At this meeting, we will also be collecting signatures for an NCJW-led petition to get reproductive freedom on the ballot to end the abortion ban in MO.
