A walk through the halls of Deutsch Early Childhood Center (DECC) tells the story of our community. (If you haven't seen our school, we invite you to take a tour!) You might see leftovers from apple donuts made during a cooking class. You’d find pictures drawn by your kiddos in chalk on the sidewalks leftover from a symbolic Tashlich done with our shinshinit, Roni. You would see beautifully decorated bulletin boards filled with pumpkins, ghosts, and witches in preparation for our school trick-or-treat event where students collect festive goodies from each classroom. If you were to visit on a weekend, you might see the kids gathered in TI’s beautiful sukkah ready to celebrate, or in our muscle room or on our playground with their families for our meetups, or even in the Isserman Auditorium for music, food, and fun at our Fall Festival. And in between all that, we have our regular school days. There's something comforting about the routine of picking your kids up after a day filled with loving educators, kind friends, learning, and playing. If the first half of school is an indication of the months to come, it’s going to be a fantastic year at DECC!

TIRS has had a wonderful first semester. It’s been one of our best years yet; we've loved welcoming so many new families to our program! Along with our returning families, we are building an incredible community. The first few months were all about creating a positive classroom dynamic. We’ve also had a successful start to our Youth Leadership (TIYuL) mini-mesters. TIYuL is in it’s second year and is our program for post-B’nai Mitzvah students. Our first mini-mester called Jewish Science with Sarah Falkoff was a literal BLAST, and Zion is a Four Letter Word with Rabbi Michael was thought provoking. We can’t wait for the rest of the year and to see our students grow in their Jewish education.
