I've spent a lot of time around Purim Shpiels: I grew up with them, I've been in them, I've written them, and in fact, I remember when kids weren't even in them. 

Purim is such a cool story because you can act it out it in so many ways, which is why I'm so excited to be co-directing the Shpiel this year. It's really cool to see new themes each Purim, whether it be a Broadway play or themed after a movie like Shrek, which is why I'm so happy this year's theme is going to be The Muppets. 

The Muppets are a classic to me. I grew up with the movies (mainly the 1979 and 2011 versions) and watched the show, too. Writing the script was a bit of trouble for this, just figuring out which characters went with who, and how to add different personalities to the story. 

The songs were the most fun part, being able to take these classic songs and add a Purim spin on them was very enjoyable. I'm super excited for everyone to check out A Very Muppet Purim Shpiel on Sunday, March 10 at 10:30 am at Temple Israel.
