Kathy’s favorite places to travel: “Spain and Hawaii. My soul feels like it’s ripped away when I leave these places.”

“My Jewish journey began by reading and educating myself. It wasn’t until moving to St. Louis, MO, becoming a member at Temple Israel, and getting more involved that I really immersed myself in my Jewish education.

“As someone who was not born Jewish, I sought and attended classes such as Rabbi Amy Feder & Rabbi Michael Alper’s Judaism for Beginners courses, as well as events and services at Temple Israel. Like many who choose Judaism, the consuming of information, education, and incorporation into your daily practice to create an authentic Jewish life is an undertaking – one which is still in progress nine years after my conversion.

“Honestly, I took on a leadership role at TI because Rabbi Amy asked me to, and I also enjoy being a voice for members with young children who attend our Preschool, Religious & Hebrew School, and for members who like Jewish education. My education continues as I continue to cultivate a meaningful Jewish life for myself and for my family, which includes my Mexican American culture, as it’s also an important priority in my life and to my identity."
