Passover hub

Passover Hub Square with Wine and Matzah

Passover (Pesach in Hebrew) is an important celebration, commemorating the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt over 3,000 years ago. The story of Passover details how God spoke to Moses and told him to free his people from slavery. The events that followed represent a significant part of our collective history, and inform the traditions we practice to this day!

At Passover, families read the story of the Exodus from a book called the Haggadah. During the Seder we recall when we were enslaved in Egypt, thank God that we are now free, and pray for those who are currently being persecuted.

Passover is a joyous holiday, usually celebrated with a meal called a Seder, meaning “order” in Hebrew. The is a Seder plate is filled with symbolic foods, and the meal commences in a specific order with wine, and of course, matzah!
