Saturday Morning Bible Study with Rabbi Emeritus Mark L. Shook

TEXT: Saturday Morning Bible Study IMAGE: Bible pages with class title

Two years ago, Rabbi Shook began an unprecedented program of Bible study that centered on the New Testament. “If knowledge is power, then Jewish ignorance of the New Testament makes Jews vulnerable, and the New Testament is an important resource for studying Judaism under the Roman Empire. The destruction of the Temple in the year 70 CE, during the Jewish revolt against Rome, set in motion the ideas, spiritual values, and conflicts of both Judaism and Christianity today."

In continuation of this important study, this year’s class will open with the New Testament book, The Acts of the Apostles.

Saturdays, September 7, 2024 through April 2025  |  9:30 am - 10:30 am  |  in person (Board Room) and via Zoom  |  free for TI members; $18 for non-members (one-time registration fee)
*Note: there is no Bible Study in October.

The recommended course text is The Jewish Annotated New Testament, Second Edition, edited by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler; click here to view the book. Previous attendance, knowledge, or experience with the New Testament is not necessary.
